Hypnotize!

Here's a song that's had me foot-tapping over the last month or so. It's called "Hypnotize" by a band called "System of a Down".

A quick intro to this extremely talented band: This band has 4 members all of whom are Armenian Americans. Their trademark music style blends new age heavy metal rock with traditional melodies. Armenia has strong cultural influences from Persia and Russia owing to its geographical location in central Eurasia. This fact can be seen in all of the music that the band composes. Most of their songs are like a MotoGP motobike ride across a twisty circuit in just 2 gears - low, high. Their sound shifts between mellow traditional tunes played with the guitar & other ethnic instruments and improvised high-flying electric guitar portions, giving you a totally unique listening experience.

This particular song masterfully mixes Islamic Sufi tunes with heavy metal. It's a pretty heavy song for those uninitiated to rock but I've seen LP-Faint a few posts below this one, so, I'm guessing this one should pass ;) Listen to this one when you're not doing anything important; the tune is pretty catchy and the guitar solo towards the end just sticks to your mind for a while.

Lakshya ko har haal mein paana hai

One more beauty by Shankar Mahadevan. The ending part with the "anthim padh" is just marvellous. Best heard with head phones and loud music. Any time song.. Gets you going after listening.

Music that we can appreciate

This is my attempt to collect some music that I have loved over the years, and hopefully post it here along with instructions on listening to them.. since lots of them sound just great under the right ambience and emotional state..

In true ishtyle, I am starting the collection with Linkin Park-Faint. I guess its hard rock.. suitable for an active evening and lots of noise..I would suggest either a head phone with volume turned high.. or good speaker on loud.
